Memorandum of Association

of

The Crime Prevention Society of Nova Scotia

 

The name of the Society is the Crime Prevention Society of Nova Scotia

 

The objectives of the Society are:

 

a)             to promote safer communities and reduce crime

 

b)             to work with other community groups with the same aims and objectives

 

c)             to promote an awareness of safer community strategies

 

d)             to deliver education programs on community safety

 

e)             to work with police and other law enforcement agencies to provide mutual support and help in promoting community safety

 

f)             to promote quality of life through improved community safety

 

g)             to encourage and support the development of provincial programs on community safety

 

h)             to promote cooperation between agencies to improve community safety

 

i)              to acquire funds to promote the aims of Society

 

j)              to acquire real and personal property for the purpose of achieving the objectives of the Society, such property may be acquired by grant, gift, purchase, bequest, devise or otherwise

 

k)             to buy, own, hold, lease, mortgage, sell or convey such real or personal property as necessary or desirable to carry out the objectives of the Society

 

The Society is not permitted to carry on any trade, industry or business.

 

The Society shall be carried on without the purpose of gain to any member.

 

Any surplus or increase of the Society shall be used only for the purpose of the

Society and to promote its objectives.

 

If the operations of the Society are terminated, wound up, or dissolved for any

reason, any property that remains after the payment of debts and liabilities, is to be paid to

another charitable organization in Canada that has similar objects to those of the Society. 

 

The objectives of the Society are to be carried on within Nova Scotia.
